| 34. (1) Minister may pay compensation - Subject to and in accordance with any regulations made under subsection 37(1), the Minister may pay compensation | ||

(a)

to a discharged inmate for physical disability attributable to the inmate's participation in the normal program of a penitentiary; and | |

(b)
|
to the surviving spouse or dependent children of a discharged inmate or an inmate who died before the expiration of his sentence whose death is attributable to his participation in the normal program of a penitentiary. | |

Definition of "discharged inmate" - In this section, "discharged inmate" means an inmate who has been released as a result of the expiration of his sentence or the operation of remission or who has been released on parole other than day parole. [1976-77 c53 s43] |
