An Act respecting the Department of the Solicitor General


SHORT TITLE
 
1. Short title - This Act may be cited as the Department of the Solicitor General Act.

POWERS, DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
OF THE SOLICITOR GENERAL
 
4. Powers, duties and functions of Solicitor General - The powers, duties and functions of the Solicitor General extend to and include all matters over which Parliament has jurisdiction, not by law assigned to any other department, board or agency of the Government of Canada, relating to
 (a) reformatories, prisons and penitentiaries;
 (b) parole, remissions, statutory release and long-term supervision within the meaning of subsection 2(1) of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act;
 (c) the Royal Canadian Mounted Police; and
 (d) the Canadian Security Intelligence Service.
