| 16.
(1) Sentence to Correctional Institution -
The court before which a person is convicted under an Act of the Legislature
of an offence punishable by imprisonment may sentence the person to imprisonment
in a correctional institution. R.S.O. 1990, c. M.22, s. 16 (1). |
| (2)
Custody During Conveyance - A person who has been sentenced to imprisonment in a correctional institution may be detained in any correctional institution, as directed by the Ministry, or in the custody of a provincial bailiff or other person employed in a correctional institution. |

(3) Exception - Subsections (1) and (2) do not apply to young persons. R.S.O. 1990, c. M.22, s. 16 (3).
