Mr. Conroy is a graduate of
the University of British Columbia Law School, class of 1971 and was
called to the Bar of British Columbia on May 15, 1972, 28 years ago.
He was appointed Queen's Counsel in January, 1996.
The firm's practice is primarily in the criminal
law area and related constitutional and administrative law matters arising
out of the administration of sentences of imprisonment in both Federal
and Provincial prisons and conditional release or parole and other similar
issues. In essence this firm is interested in protecting individuals
from the abuse of power by governments at all levels and to ensure that
those exercising statutory power do so fairly and within their jurisdiction.

The Purpose of the Society:
-To promote the provision of
legal services to people who are incarcerated in the Lower Mainland
and Fraser Valley of British Columbia, and who are financially unable
to obtain legal services privately.
- To encourage the provision of legal services to prisoners whose problems arise because of their unique status as prisoners. - To promote the rule of law within prisons and penitentiaries. - To encourage prisoners to make use of the legal remedies at their disposal. - To promote the fair and equal treatment of prisoners, by assisting prisoners who face discrimination based on such matters as sex, aboriginal origin , race, colour, religion, national ethinic origin, age or mental or physical disability. - To encourage the application of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms inside prisons and penitentiaries. - To promote openness and accountability in the prisons and penitentiaries of British Columbia. - To promote the principles that incarcerated people must be treated with fairness and dignity. - To promote the abolitian of prisons through the reform of the criminal justice system.
